BSA Troop # 272

About Us

What is Troop 272 like?

In this troop you will learn many things: camping, hiking, shooting sports, outdoor skills, cooking techniques, first aid and much, much more. These scouting activities are “fun with a purpose” because you are having fun while you do them and you are learning important life skills at the same time. In addition to learning the skills, you also learn how to be good leader, how to communicate better, and, in general, how to become a better and more confident person.

How big is this troop and where do we meet?

We have 19 boys in the troop and we have our weekly meetings at the St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church on most Thursday evenings at 7pm. During these meetings, we learn skills and develop teamwork that we use when we go out into the field on our monthly outdoor trips. We go camping at least once a month, which sometimes involves hiking, cycling, backpacking, or canoeing.

What type of adventure trips do we run?

We go camping quite often -- which does include in mid-winter and at various locations around our great state. In the past few years, we have also gone to Nantucket Island, Lake George New York, and Hidden Valley Scout Camp.
